A longtime resident of Colorado, Dr. Jon Dishler earned his medical degree from the University of Colorado Medical School in 1978. He completed an internship at Presbyterian Medical Center in Denver and a residency in the Department of Ophthalmology at the University of Texas before returning to the Denver area to practice as an ophthalmologist. He founded the Dishler Laser Institute, serving Englewood, Aurora, and all of Colorado, in 1985.
As a part of his commitment to remaining at the forefront of his field, Dr. Jon Dishler has undergone extensive post-graduate training covering numerous procedures, techniques, and medical conditions. He is qualified to perform many different advanced surgical procedures, including LASIK, PRK, IntraLASIK, and lens implantation. He is certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons.
Since establishing his practice in 1982, Dr. Jon Dishler has been recognized many times for his groundbreaking contributions to the field of refractive surgery. In 2002, he was awarded the Clarity Award in 2002 by Bausch & Lomb for his leadership and experience in the field of refractive surgery. Three years later, he was presented with the Luminaries Award for his contributions to the IntraLase Corporation.
Dr. Dishler has numerous groundbreaking achievements to his name. He was the first ophthalmologist in the state of Colorado to perform LASIK and automated lamellar keratoplasty (ALK), and one of the first in the United States to perform the advanced all-laser IntraLASIK procedure. He also performed the first LASIK procedure for farsightedness in the state of Colorado. In addition, he invented the Dishler Excimer Laser, the Dishler LASIK Cannula, and the Excimer Beam Profiler, making him an important contributor to the advancement of eye surgery technology.
