Interview Q&A
How long have you been in business?
We started this in late 2001 so we've been at it a little over seven years at this point.
What is your primary product or service?
We are exclusively focused on helping the elderly and folks with certain disabilities to keep their independence within their homes. This also helps to relieve family members and to give them peace of mind when we're on the job. We do this by providing personable, upbeat, likable, capable and caring professionals who do this noble work because they love people and love to help. They perform a myriad of non-medical, supportive tasks that again, helps our clients to remain safely and comfortably in their home.
How did you first become interested in your line of business? (if owner) - What is your background? (If owner or store manager)
I was a Regional Manager for Prudential Real Estate for many years. It was a terrific training ground but I was traveling way too much. Then when my mother passed, I began to rethink my priorities in life. I had my epiphany when I thought about the fact that my father might need "home care." After doing some research, I concluded that the marketplace could use a better alternative for those discerning families who demand a better, more professional approach.
How do you differentiate yourself from other businesses in your category and area?
1. By remaining a small, boutique, family business. Bigger isn't always better and our approach yields effective communication among staff and much better quality control.
2. I personally hand pick each caregiver and my bottom line criteria is "Would I have this person help my father?" Of course they are all completely checked out but more important, they a likable people who love what they do.
3. Compatibility is HUGE with us. We don't just send out a body, we go to great lengths to ensure that our clients adore our caregivers and vice versa.
4. We professionally manage the entire process and yes, we are all "recovering perfectionists." We have an impeccable track record and we plan to keep it that way.
How many locations do you have and do you have plans to expand?
We are a single home based business out of the Castle Pines North area. We elected to forgo "bricks and mortar" so that we could pay our people better than our competitors. Our employees go directly from their home to the client's home so a physical/public office just didn't make strategic sense to us. We have a state-of-the-art set up and our clients and caregivers are welcome to stop by with an appointment.
Provide detailed directions to your location
Any meetings at our home office would be by appointment only. You may call us at 303.660.5120.
What type of payments do you accept?
We are private pay but do accept MasterCard and Visa.
Which areas do you service?
Douglas, Arapahoe, Denver, Jefferson and some of Elbert County
Who owns your company or runs daily operations?
Tom Barton is the owner, Gerri Tyber is the Operations Manager and Karen Barton is the Accounting Manager.
What are your hours of operation?
Monday through Saturday from 8 AM to 6 PM. Sunday by appointment.
